The Education Committee is responsible for informing all area faculty about the AIGA mission and objectives, and to disseminate current information and discuss the status of the graphic design field in order to better prepare students to enter the professional level. In order to create an environment that encourages active student participation, the committee assists faculty and students who are interested in forming a student group and help recruit new members.
Committee VP | | Cal State LA Jimmy Moss, is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and Yale School of Art. Currently he is a professor in the design program at Cal State L.A., and Chair of the Design Option. He has been a visiting critic or lecturer at Stanford, San Francisco Art Institute, Academy of Art College, Woodbury University, Otis College of Art and Cal State Northridge. Previously, Jimmy was the Creative Director of Corbis Images, and a Senior Art Director for Foote, Cone & Belding Advertising in both San Francisco and Orange County. He maintains a strong interest in questions of information design, typographic communication, the role of design in public spaces and in service to movements of social change.
Committee VP | | Roski School of Fine Arts Haven Lin Kirk, Design Coordinator at USC Roski School of Fine Arts earned her MFA from Claremont Graduate University and has been a practicing designer for over 20 years. She has worked with companies such as Pennzoil Oil Corporation/Nascar, Voyager Publishing/Random House Publishing, Ashahi Graphics, Ingram/Micro, and more. She has received eight Maggie Awards in publication design, and her artwork has been exhibited at Ruth Bachofner Gallery, The Brewery Project, Salon Oblique, Eagle Rock Cultural Center, Otak Gallery (Dubrovinik, Croatia), POST Gallery, I-5 Gallery, BANK Gallery, and The Spanish Kitchen.
